White on White

By Ade | Landscape

The image is of the humble Shasta Daisy picked from a neighbors’ garden. I am very much a novice hobby photographer and fairly new to Macro having only had my lens a couple of months. I enjoy trying to give my images a more creative feel rather than producing just a record of the subject. I am still experimenting with different styles whilst I am learning but can see that I will try more white on white as I love the elegant simplicity and gently calmness that this style conveys to me.

This photo was taken indoors on a white table top against a white wall.  I used natural light from a large window to the side facing the flower. I also used a flash on camera with a home made diffuser directing light down from above .

Equipment & Settings used:
Canon EOS 5D Mark III paired with the Canon 100mm f2.8 Macro Lens IS USM
Shutter Speed : 160 secs
Aperture : f/18
ISO : 160
Flash: Canon 600 EX-RT Flash

Little House

By Ade | Landscape

I drive past this location weekly and love how the scene changes with the seasons. This year the owners planted canola around the little house and it looks amazing. I have photographed this little house at different times of the year but a few weeks back I was driving past and noticed the last of the light from sunset illuminating the trees in the background. So I stopped and captured that. Continue reading

Red Tulips

By Ade | Landscape

As you gaze into this photo, come with me on a journey to Araluen Botanic Park, quietly nestled in the hills of Perth. Here you will see heaven kissed earth, a beautiful tapestry of colour, beauty and nature. For months my heart had been longing, begging my presence to come, to explore, to taste, to see, to feel, to touch, this magical little wonderland. Finally I took the moment, camera in hand, escaping the treadmill of busy city life. Monday 14 September 2015…..      Continue reading

Horse Appearing from Nowhere

By Ade | Landscape

Started an outing to Moore River.
Followed a pair of eagle to a tree ridge line.
Parked in a hollow on side of road and my Photo buddy called out Horse As I was shooting birds I didn’t have much time to focus on the horse as it came from the top of the ridge around some trees flew past down the embankment and up the other side gone.
Just never appeared again.

Overcast day ISO too high as i was shooting birds in a tree of shadows.
Split second shot used LR to remove highlights put into Photoshop tweaked in NIk collection of detail extractor then added saturation and a Vignette

Equipment & Settings used:
Nikon D800 paired with the Sigma Lens 4.5-6.3 APO HSM 50-500mm
Shutter Speed : 640 secs
Aperture : f/6.3

Hopper Garder

By Ade | Landscape

“I hurt my back on the weekend and was disappointed about not being able to go out and take pictures. But on Sunday morning I noticed it had been raining and was quite still so I thought it would be good for macro photos in the backyard. That way I could still get my photography fix without having to drive anywhere. So I took out my camera and macro lens and attached my flash and started looking for good photos of droplets on flowers. While I was doing this I stumbled across this tiny grasshopper (about 5mm long) in the middle of a daisy and tried to get his photo. Continue reading

Perth City Skyline basks in Golden Glow

By Ade | Landscape

Perth, the City of Lights from the hills taken by Perth photographer Noel Davidson. Although this was taken earlier in the year, we thought it was a perfect way to end 2015 basking in the glorious sunset of the golden west.

This image was taken up from Zig Zag Hill during Australia Day earlier this year. I figured I would go up the hills to get a good vantage point from the distance and get a wider perspective of the city during the firework display.
